Giving your pet an occasional treat can be useful while training him or when trying to keep him occupied. Just like humans, dogs too love to be rewarded when they are well behaved or obedient and what better way than to give him a treat. Treats help build the bond between you and your pet – a process known as positive reinforcement.
There are different types of dog treats that you can buy. There are chicken and turkey treats, chicken and rice balls or maybe just milk bones and then there are also bully sticks. Treats should be offered in small quantities and should be avoided just before the dog’s meal. Certain foods like chocolate, grapes, raisins, and onions are toxic and can upset your dog’s digestion. You should refrain from giving your pet treats from your plate. He can become a pest at mealtime.
It is important to choose the right type of dog treat. Know your dog’s chewing style, health, allergies and taste preferences to determine which treats suit him. Depending on what type of dog you have, and the age, will depend on what type of dog treats to buy. These treats can be bought at pet supplies stores and even on online at reasonable prices.
Bully sticks as the name suggests is a treat to bully the dog into distraction. They are made from certain parts of a bull or steer, which are then dried or baked. They are then cut into different sizes and curled, twisted, or braided into bully sticks for small or large dogs, for light or heavy chewers and last longer. They can be a natural, healthy, reliable and nutritious dog treat. Bully sticks are normally chemical, hormone and pesticide free and have become extremely popular as dog owners are always looking for new ways to keep their dogs entertained, mentally stimulated and satisfied.
As mentioned in the introductory paragraph, dog treats are essential to keep your pet happy and to give him a sense of achievement. It helps in creating the kind of bond and loyalty you are looking for. However, it is important to hold back a treat to make the dog realize that you are not happy with his conduct. A lot more information is available on the internet to help you choose the right treat for your pet. In today’s world, you can find many stores selling only natural bully sticks.

I said www.flickr.com/photos/mikebaird/5076413065/ was the BEST of the eight shots (even though it depicts less action it is much sharper in focus as seen in the original sizes) – do you agree?
