I agree, Radiohead is a great band and I admire much of their material. However, in terms of musicianship, the early Yes lineup of the 1971-1975 period was more talented. Steve Howe is one of rocks few virtuoso guitarist, BIll Bruford was one of rocks best drummers and became a fusion superstar, and Chris Squire is an innovative bass player. That being said, Yes’s material is very uneven. But just listen to the hypnotic “Siberian Khatru” from 1972 “Close to the Edge” …ahead of their time?
Their musicianship is practically unequalled by any “rock” band ever. And certainly not by any band that has attained their popularity worldwide.
The layered sounds that this group has been able to imagine, play, and record is staggering. I think it is a testament to their dedication to pushing boundaries in all forms of the art they produce. The effortlessness of the playing is also something to behold.
I’d like to see/listen to what doesn’t make the cut on their albums.
@BelgianFriesX weird, that song is about death, they should use this one better (if they divorce and get married again) it’s much lovely and cute and this arpeggio is way better than street spirit arpeggio
@eLECTROLOSIS – No. It’s way up there on my list of potential songs. I want to steer away from the usual mushy wedding song genre and what better way than with a lovely song by Radiohead. Plus, it would totally weird everyone out.
wow. its been such a long time since i watched this video and it just keeps on blowing my mind. This band is made up of geniuses. Radiohead is the best band alive hands down.
