Trent Consultants News Scam Alert: Korea scientist wins dog cloning court battle

Dogs No Comments »

Trent Consultants News – Scam Alert A Seoul district court on Friday ruled that his cloning technology is different from procedures patented by the Seoul National University.

RNL Bio, which bought the patent from the university, filed a lawsuit against the Sooam Biotech Research Center led by Hwang a year ago after Hwang’s team produced cloned dogs for a foreign biotech company.

“The court accepted that Sooam’s technology is a new invention, which is different from the existing technique bought by RNL Bio from the Seoul National University,” Hwang’s colleague Hyun Sang-Hwan told AFP.

An RNL Bio official said the company was considering an appeal.

A team of researchers at the Seoul National University produced the world’s first cloned dog, an Afghan hound named Snuppy, in 2005, under Hwang’s stewardship.

But Hwang was later fired by the university after his landmark studies on cloned human stem cells in 2004 and 2005 were exposed as fraudulent.

Hwang has no claim over the university’s dog cloning technology as South Korean law states that intellectual property developed by a government-run institution belongs to the state.

Prosecutors here last month demanded a four-year jail term for Hwang, who is on trial for fraud, embezzlement and ethical breaches in connection with the fraudulent research. From 2009 AFP. Copyrighted.

Leash Training ? Dog Training

Dogs No Comments »

Leash training or lead training is the discussion of many dog trainers in this modern age and discussions of how to train your dog in the nicest possible way are aplenty. These discussions are brought about by people and dog trainers believing that pulling on the leash to correct a dog’s behavior is causing injury to the dog.

I’m not here to discus this also, but I certainly don’t believe there is anything wrong with leash training if it is done in the correct way and care is taken not to hurt the dog or give any sudden forceful pulls on the leash.

Leash dog training is equally as popular as any other form of dog training within the expert dog training community because when done properly it gets results quickly and effectively.

Leash training is used by correcting your dog’s movements and gently tugging on the leash to force the dog to go in a way they would not have originally gone and to direct them in the favoured way for the training exercise in hand. Often the problems of leash training are with getting your dog comfortable with the leash and collar so I will briefly discus the key aspects of getting your dog to behave when going for walks on a leash and the problems you might face.

Some dogs are excited to get their collar on and other are not so fond of it, train your dog to sit and stay first before learning to take your dog on a leash, many dogs like to wriggle around and run about wile you try to put a collar or lead on them so the sit stay commands will be essential.

While doing any pre-leash exercises or walks if your dog misbehaves by being too excited you should simply remain calm and not go for walks until they are acting appropriately, this should calm your dog down and act as a light punishment for them.

When starting leash training, begin in your own home and then work your way up to more populated and new and interesting places, if your dog misbehaves or is pulling on the leash constantly when they are out then discipline accordingly, and as always practice will be the deciding factor to how quickly your dog will accomplish good behavior.

Brian Gay: The Gay Ferret

Who’s the only player so good that when he’s on he might be unbeatable, even by you-know-who, and so deserves an eponymous Ferret? That’s right, Brian Gay. He is the best player hardly ever mentioned when people are talking about great players, and he has the ability to block out the world and play his own technically superb game and win by shocking margins. Also, his wife, Kimberly (who, if you think about it, is his Gay lover), is a doll.

Best player without a major victory? It’s still Sergio. He also wins the Unluckiest Ferret again this year, and the Untimely Honesty Ferret, and the Let Someone Else Say That Ferret. Despite this, I believe in him. I think he has the heart and the talent, and he will win more than one. I thought the same about Phil. Look it up if you like.

Angel Cabrera: The Best Player to Have Won Only Two Majors Ferret

Yes, I know Angel Cabrera looks like he should be carrying a huge club and dragging a woman out of a cave by her hair, but believe me, the big Argentinian is a player and a gentleman. You should start believing in him — he’ll be around for a while.

The Mickelsons: The Family Ferret

The Mickelsons win this one at a canter. With his mother Mary and wife Amy both stricken by cancer, Phil played the Tour this year with an unbelievable burden, largely because the two most important women in his life would have kicked his ass out the door if he hadn’t. Hopefully no reader can imagine what the Mickelson family is going through right now, but with this column I send them all the love in the world, and thank them for the strength they have shown, which has been an inspiration to so many.

Y.E. Yang: Shot of the Year Ferret

The Academy could not reach consensus here, so we have a tie between Y. E. Yang’s second to the last hole of the PGA Championship at Hazeltine, and one of Tiger’s. That’s how weird it’s become — he of the gilded gonads hits so many shots that are in a different category from everyone else’s that by the end of a season it’s all a blur, kind of like the ’90s were for me. (I know I played in a Ryder Cup, but only because of the pictures, and I’d be doubtful even about that if it hadn’t happened before Photoshop.)

Dog Behavior Training ? the Sit Command

Dogs No Comments »

The sit command is the most popular and most used dog training command in the dog behaviour training world, and for good reason, the ‘sit’ command is the first command most dogs learn and is the basis for all other commands to be built upon.

Your dog should be taught the ‘sit’ command as soon as possible. It is the first step in obedience for your dog and should be taught as soon as your dog is comfortable with his/her name being called and is responding well to it.

So when is the best time to teach your dog this command? The timing is crucial for training your dog, once your dog is fairly comfortable with the command, it’s not a bad idea to practise often without care to other circumstances but to begin with timing and your dog’s frame of mind are very important.

You dog will respond best to your dog training methods before meals or when your dog is hungry, when your dog wants something he will be a lot more tolerable to train. Make sure you always reward your dog for doing well, as soon as they’re doing what they’re supposed to, reward them there and then, making your dog wait around will confuse your dog and make them more disobedient in the long run.

Now you know the basics of what to do and what not to do and when to do it, its time for the actual training. Before you start be sure you have treats ready for your dog when he performs well, start in a quiet room or place where your dogs attention won’t be distracted and make sure your dog knows you have treats to reward them with. Use the treat to hold above his head, slowly moving it directly above their head. In doing this, your dog should naturally fall back into the sitting position by bending their legs to keep track of the treat above. As soon as your dog’s rear touches the ground, reward them with lots of praise and the treat you used.

This may take several days or even weeks before your dog is completely comfortable with this exercise, if your dog refuses to be calm and stay in one place while you do the exercise, try using any of the discipline procedures at Dog-Behavior-Training.co.uk.

Getting angry with your dog during these exercises will not help the situation and it is always best to take time out if your feeling stressed or annoyed because your dog will sense these feelings and won’t want to cooperate even more.

Give an Eye to PGA Tour—-2010

Where does Tiger Woods’ saga go? What will be the PGA Tour in the upcoming season?

Amanda Blumenherst

Let me suggest that 2010 would be the perfect year to start following the LPGA Tour.

I know, the LPGA has been struggling itself lately. It has lost more than a few tournaments from its schedule over the past couple of seasons, and the dearth of American winners in 2009 has made it difficult for some fans to stay interested in the women’s pro game here in the U.S. However, brighter times are ahead for the LPGA and I predict some exciting performances in 2010 from a bunch of new young players that you will love to follow week in and week out.

Mina Harigae

To golfers:    discount golf equipment           Callaway X-22 Irons

I had the chance to attend the LPGA Q School tournament earlier this month in Daytona Beach (I even caddied for one of the players) and can tell you that Amanda Blumenherst is definitely one new rookie who merits notice. Blumenherst won the five-day Q School event with a solid 9-under-par performance. She is the “real deal,” and I would be surprised if she does not win on the LPGA Tour next year.

Blumenherst has done what many current LPGA stars have not done. She spent a full four years in college, graduating with honors from Duke where she was an All-American and a three-time NCAA Player of the Year. She is also a past U.S. Women’s Amateur champion. Watching her play and handle herself with reporters after her Q School victory it was apparent she has the mental maturity to go along with the physical talent necessary to compete at the highest level in women’s professional golf. The Scottsdale, Ariz., native is also as nice and friendly a person as you will find on a golf course. Spectators at events and viewers on TV will thoroughly enjoy watching her play.

American golf fans should prepare themselves for some exciting and hard-fought battles in 2010 between Blumenherst and Michelle Wie. With her first LPGA victory this fall, Wie has finally “come into her own” as a professional golfer and will most likely be near or at the top of the leaderboard in many LPGA events in the upcoming season. Wie’s victory came none too soon for the tour, which is hoping to capitalize on her popularity among golf fans. A rivalry between Blumenherst and Wie would be wonderful for the LPGA. Wie is already a household name, while Blumenherst is well-known to those following women’s golf, but she could take on superstar status and become another household name if she plays up to her capabilities.

There are several other youngsters coming out of Q School and the Duramed Futures Tour who could also make their marks on the LPGA in 2010. In fact, the talent level on the tour has probably never been higher. Some other LPGA rookies to keep your eye on in 2010: Mina Harigae from Monterey, Calif., Jean Reynolds from Newnan, Ga., and Misun Cho from South Korea. They earned their LPGA cards by finishing in the top three on the season money list on the Futures Tour, with each notching multiple victories in 2009. Reynolds came into the national spotlight last summer when she contended for the victory at the U.S. Women’s Open.

Among the other new LPGA rookies who earned their cards at Q School this month and could contend in 2010 are:

Mariajo Uribe, Colombia
Marianne Skarpnord, Norway
Maria Hernandez, Spain
Gwladys Nocera, France
Lucy Kim, South Korea
Pernilla Lindberg, Sweden
Beatriz Recari, Spain
Lisa Meldrum, Canada
Azahara Munoz, Spain

Incoming LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan has his work cut out for him as he tries to restore events that were lost over the past few years and build up the tour’s schedule for seasons to come. The LPGA is definitely not in the driver’s seat in its current relationships with sponsors and event organizers. The number of events has dropped from 32 in 2008 to an expected 24 in 2010. The tour will have to be as accommodating as it can be when it comes to purse sizes and scheduling. It will also have to do everything it can to build its fan base.

The LPGA has a new 10-year TV deal with the Golf Channel that begins next year. The expanded coverage of its events will make it easier for fans to follow the players and watch the action. Judging from the numbers of new, talented players who will be teeing off in their rookie season, fans are going to have many reasons to start attending LPGA events and follow the tour on television.

Instant Decison Credit Cards

Kitties No Comments »

INSTANT decision credit cards offer a decision in minutes when you apply online for the credit card. Getting an instant decision on your application offers added convenience and speed when applying for a credit card online.

What is an instant decision?

An instant decision is offered by a number of credit card companies when you apply online via their website for their credit card. Once you’ve filled out your information online, when you submit the form your credit card application is process immediately and in most cases you will automatically receive a decision letting you know if you’ve been accepted for the credit card. The instant decision will be displayed straight away on your screen.

How do online applications work?

When you apply online for a credit card, your information is securely sent to the issuing bank or building society. Where an instant decision is offered, the issuing bank or building society will instantly process your application to determine whether or not they will accept your application.

How can they give me a decision straight away?

The issuing bank or building society will often use a company like Experian or Equifax – who allow them to check your credit score immediately to help determine whether you can open an account or not.Once this credit check has been run, the issuing bank or building society will often be able to give you a decision on your application in seconds.

Is it safe to apply online?

Online application forms are run from secure servers on a bank or building society’s website. The information you enter into the form is also securely encrypted, which means that when the data is sent it is scrambled and can only be read – or unscrambled – by the bank or building society you’ve applied for a credit card with. Secure encryption is a very safe method of transferring data, and most, if not all banks and building societies use 128bit encryption – which is the highest level of encryption security.

Santa, Buddha, Elves, and Hello Kitty? Christmas in Bangkok

Kitties No Comments »

Copyright (c) 2009 Ben Hart

Yes, elves in sombreros, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and a pink frosty the snowman in a cheap suit. This is Christmas in the Land Of Smiles.

It often said among the many foreigners here that the Thai can never quite get it right. They often use blue Christmas lights instead of green and sometimes pink and yellow too. I once saw a nativity scene which featured the seven dwarfs in place of the apostles and it wouldn’t have surprised anyone if a smiling Winnie the Pooh, honey pot and all, was tucked snugly into the crib reserved for Baby Jesus. This is Xmas in the LOS (Land of Smiles for the uninitiated).

I was in a taxi cab when I noticed the elves in big yellow sombreros. These were large wood cutouts that lined up along a stretch of road next to a popular shopping district here in Bangkok. It would appear as though these locations become draped with differing interpretations of both New Years and Christmas. It is a sort free association for the Thais who seem to take any opportunity to revel in cuteness with little regard for tradition. Hello Kitty, Tom and Gerry and that stupid blue cat everyone loves so much all have a place in the echelon of Christmas spirits. They haven’t yet trifled with the image of Santa, but I’ve been on the lookout for a sleigh driving Goofy all week and I’m sure there has to be one somewhere. It’s only a matter of time. As for the reindeer; these too seem to be acceptable on there own meritorious cuteness, but again, I’m on the lookout. Perhaps a team of flying rabbits or pink teddy bears will someday replace them at the head of Santa’s sleigh. As for the Christmas tree, there’s a hotel on New Road that keeps a Christmas tree up all year in the lobby. This dusty and rather distressed tree is crowned not with a Star of David but with a trio of pink wedding bells that congratulates some happily wed couple from Christmas past. I have witnessed other examples, but you get the idea.

It’s probably true that some foreigners find this complete bastardization of Christ’s birth as unfathomable and in poor taste, I on the other hand find it refreshing and if anything and perhaps sadly so, a more accurate representation of what Christmas has truly become and to most of us western consumers, what it truly represents. In any case, it is Christmas in the Land of Smiles. So on behalf of everyone in the Kingdom, I’d like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas, Happy Cinco Dimayo and congratulations!

Sean O’Hair

Sean O’Hair showed what he was made of early in 2009 when he shook off the disappointment of defeat at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard to win five weeks later against a world-class field at the Quail Hollow Championship.

The victory was the third of the talented 27-year-old’s career. O’Hair went on to post a total of nine top-10s, including in the last three events of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup. He only missed four cuts in 23 starts and earned more than $4 million.

He took his cues from NBA legend Michael Jordan and world No. 2 Phil Mickelson at the Presidents Cup and went 2-2-1 in his debut. O’Hair’s got major game and 2010 just might be the year he shows it.

To golfers:    Titleist 2010 AP2 Irons          Callaway X-22 Irons

Michael Sim

Although he can’t be expected to exhibit the same sort of domination he enjoyed last year, look for Nationwide Tour graduate Michael Sim to make his presence felt on the PGA TOUR in 2010. Sim played 14 Nationwide Tour events in 2009, won three of them (earning a late-season promotion to the PGA TOUR) and had nine top-10s.

He set a Nationwide Tour record with earnings of $644,142 and is ranked No. 50 in the Official World Golf Rankings. This will be Sim’s second shot at the PGA TOUR. After returning from a back injury and with a fresh mental approach (thanks to help from mind coach Angela Pampling), Sim is a different player. Just ask those on the Nationwide Tour, whom he mowed down with Tiger-like effectiveness in 2009.

Observers got a brief look at Sim at the U.S. Open, where he tied for 18th and didn’t wilt when paired one round with Tiger Woods. He also made the cut at the PGA Championship. Based on his 2009 performance, don’t be surprised in Michael Sim becomes a well-known name this season.

Ryan Moore

It took Ryan Moore 113 starts to win his first PGA TOUR title, but I promise you it won’t take nearly that long for Moore to lift another trophy. Or more.

Moore seemed destined for greatness ever since he won just about every amateur award and tournament while playing at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. But a serious injury to his left hand, which required surgery in 2006, slowed his progress as a professional.

Despite that ailment, Moore has earned more than $6.8 million during his four seasons on the PGA TOUR. And don’t worry about Moore letting this money alter his motivation. After all, this is the same pro who famously wore no labels and sponsored no products for three years until finally signing with a club company (more below). Moore, who just turned 27, is an old-school throwback with new-age talents. Watch him continue to blossom.

Phil Mickelson

Amy’s doing well, his mom is, too, and Phil Mickelson’s game snapped together big-time at the end of the season. What’s not to like? He’ll replace the raw emotions of 2009 with the promise of things to come — like a couple more majors down the line.

We may not see him too early, but when we do, he’ll be ready to go. Adam Scott was a close second for me. I think he really might surprise us all after his red-hot finish to 2009, but I’ll stay with the big lefthander.

Paul Casey

Paul Casey didn’t get a chance to build on his success in 2009 after a muscle injury in his ribcage ended Casey’s at-bat in mid-summer. At the time, he had risen to No. 3 in the world after the Englishman earned his first win on this side of the Atlantic at the Shell Houston Open.

Injuries are a part of life on TOUR, though. He needed to step completely away from the game for awhile, and it may take him a little time to get his feet back under him early in the season. Casey will be back, though, and he still has a lot to prove.

He leads a long list of players in the argument as the best yet to win a major and that is certainly part of the motivation. Furthermore, this is a Ryder Cup year, and the Europeans are still grumpy about Valhalla.

Dog Training ? the Heel Command

Dogs No Comments »

The heel command is another very important and popular command for your dog along with many others listed on www.dog-behavior-training.co.uk, taking the time to teach your dog this command will save you hours of getting annoyed when your dog doesn’t behave on long or short walks around your local area.

The reason dogs are so ‘badly behaved’ when it comes to going for walks can be for many different reasons but the most common in many homes is the excitement of wondering the streets with all the new smells, tastes, and other local dogs to discover.

The best times to train your dog and get them to do exactly what you want without too much fuss is before feeding times, if your dog wants something they will give you a lot more attention than normal. Also puppy’s and younger dogs are better to train, even with them getting over excited over everything, puppies and young dogs will be much better behaved and easier to train when they get older.

The heel command, when performed well and properly is used to stop your dog or puppy in their tracks, drop everything and return to your left hand side. Any distractions should be left alone and your dog should carry on walking closely by your side.

To begin with you will need to go in a fairly open space with enough room to move around and walk around properly, and you will need to use a lead to gently correct your dog in this exercise.

Begin by tapping your thigh saying ‘heel’ to get your dogs attention and them to come towards you, when they are by your side wait a couple of seconds then start to stride forwards, at this point your unknowing dog or puppy will try to run off ahead. If this happens you should turn in the opposite direction letting the lead go slack for 5-10 feet, start to walk in the opposite direction and as soon as the slack goes in the lead your dog will realise you have gone in the opposite direction and run towards you again.

At this point repeat the first step of commanding heel to get your dog by your side. Continue doing this exercise for 10 – 15 minutes and about 2-3 times a day. Before long your dog will become used to coming to your side and obeying you whenever you command heel.

When your dog gets used to doing this command try going in circles, in figure of eight, and changing directions suddenly, if the command is still working then try your dog on short walks and then build your way up to longer walks as you progress.

Never use the lead to discipline and roughly tug on, if you feel yourself getting annoyed then you should stop and continue at a later date when you are calmer. Keep repeating the process and your dog will eventually come to respect you. Some dogs take longer than others to train so be prepared for this behavior.
