Female Burrowing Owl and Owlet with Grasshopper (Athene cunicularia)

Our goal this season was to locate and monitor a breeding pair of Burrowing Owls. Anne and I were fortunate to locate four burrows near Fresno all active with pairs. It took several trips and many days monitoring behavior in an effort to be there at the right time when the owlets leave the burrow. I believe we missed the actual day by a week, but two of the owlets were easily identified as the last hatched. I am posting just a few of so many good images taken over the past two months and when time permits I am going to put together a slideshow for easy viewing. All images were taken from the van and very few have been cropped.

There are hundreds of different horse breeds all over the world. However, among these large number of breeds, we can classify some of the breed as most illustrious breeds. Although, versatile appearances and characteristics are known to us, there are those which really stand out. Here we have listed some of the most far-famed horse breeds around the globe.
Clydesdale:This breed is known for its action and versatility, a draft horse breed originated in Clydesdale, Scotland. Generally it?s used to carry heavy loads in rural and urban places. However, they are not goodish in plowing for they are big enough big to fit in the furrow. Its average height is about 1.68 m (16.2 hh), but some are larger and weigh up to a tonne. They have distinct large hoofs with many silky feathers. Clydesdales are also applied in competitive draft horse showing in which they are judged in harness driving.
Arabian Horse:This type of horse breed is considered as the ?fountainhead? of all the Horse breeds in the world. Because of its genetic purity, it is outstandingly genetically dominant, consistently stamping its stock with its own powerful character and acting as an up-grading and refining influence.
Thoroughbred:This kind of horse breed germinated in 17th-and 18th-century England to satisfy the enthusiasm of the gentry and their kings for horse racing. Over the last 200 years a worldwide Thoroughbred racing industry has fully grown, and the breed has emerged as the greatest single influence on the world horse population, passing on increased size, improved movement and conformation, as well as speed, courage, and mental stamina.
American Paint:American Paint is a kind of stock-horse. These kind of horses are characterized by a certain percentage of white hair over no pigment skin combined with some other color. Markings can be any shape or size, and located virtually anywhere on the Paint?s body.

This fairly large cob measures between 14 and 17 hands and the two available colors are piebald and skewbald. This type of horse has abundant hairs and ?feather? down over the hooves. They have short backs with heavy hips and have great endurance to go for long distances without tiring.
Shetland Pony:This is the most diminished breed of all the British horse breeds. They originate in the Shetland Isles, northeast of mainland Scotland. They are hardy and strong. Before, they were use to pull carts, carry peat, coal and other items. Today, children enjoy riding them so are grown men; they are also at horse shows in fairs or carnivals and are great in harness driving. Some are use as attractions in parks and in the grounds of great houses.
Swedish Warmblood:This type of Horses are inferred from imported horses into Sweden around 17th century and was developed in Stromsholm and Flyinge. Thoroughbred, Hanoverian, and Trakehner breeds were brought in to the small and rough local mares and produced strong, big, and powerful horses. Today these horses are excellent in riding for it has easy straight paces. It is handsome, sound, tractable, and very versatile. They are also groovy in competitive jumping events and have been exported in large numbers all over Europe and to the US.

Another breed is the Doberman pinscher. This is also known as the Doberman and is a very popular breed of dog among the people. This breed has lessened in number in spite of them being alert, intelligent as well as loyal companion dogs.
The fourth breed is known as the poodle. This breed is also known for its intelligence and is found in various sizes and coat colours. They were originally also known as water dogs however now they are now also known as companion dogs. DoggyCrazy:
Every seen a Rotty or a Cocker with a tail? Why do they look funny?
Furbabbymoma:
How come over the last 50+ years every dog I have had has had a long tail and never broken it?
Raspberry:
I am with you, no reason to clip ears or crop tails.
Crayon:
I have never had a dog that hurt himself. They have swept things off a coffee table though.
Dog’s Best Friend:
I hope the rest of the kennel clubs will let dogs be dogs.
Bcrcollie:
I hope that South Africa and Norway lead the way.

I think the AKC is out of their mind. They decide what is the perfect dog. If you don’t crop the tail it doesn’t fit. I have a beagle that is too big so he is disqualified.
