For my science project we need to create an organism that is has the dna of another organism. For example the super human where a human has the dna of a bird so the human can fly. Every animal benefits society and helps the environment. They control the populations of other animals, which helps the food chain..Without them, their prey would overpopulate, and eat too much.

Most pest-eating animals (i.e. ladybugs) that eat pests (i.e. aphids) control the population..Without ladybugs eating aphids, there would be tons of them, and some plants can get diseases and die..Ants also depend on them, as they eat their feces (honeydew).

Pick any animal, and try to think of ways they benefit..Here are some common “benefits” to think about :
Feeds on pests and disease spreading animals (i.e. spiders that eat mosquitoes, which can give malaria, dengue fever..etc)

Pollinates (i.e. honey bees that pollinate our crops and create honey.)

Support the food chain (Every animal and organism does this..except humans..i.e. Flowers that give pollen to bees, which are eaten by birds, which are eaten by birds of prey)

Purifies water/air, and removes toxins, or controls oxygen levels. (i.e. Mussels purify water, and make it easier for animals to live in it)

Question by Lerchie: How do I help the puppies wean from momma?
The 2 puppies just turned 6 weeks old. The vet said we should have the weaned by the middle of next week. He suggested giving them puppy food with water or milk ground up in the blender. We’ve been doing this since last Tuesday and the puppies seem to only eat a small bit each time. One puppy tends to eat more than the other. I try to feed them at least 4 times a day. They still try to suck on their mom whenever she is around. Any ideas for helping the process along?

If they are anything like cats sooner or later mom will not let them nurse anyway. I guess the only other thing you could do is keep them away from each other but I wouldn’t hve the heart to do that.

When the age of your child is one year to two year, you should add some extra activities like identifying different animal sounds and images, increase vocabulary content, and improve memory capacity. To improve your child with words, play some word games daily and ask your child to find the name of the objects around your home. This will enhance your child activities and they start to think new thought on their own.

From two to three year old, improve your child learning ability by doing different activities and games. For instance games like memory games which improve your child memory capacity and vocabulary content. This helps them to learn something easily. This is the age where they start to recognize the facial features, so play some games to identify images and colors in picture or photos. In general, many children like drawing and painting, so help them to improve their skills in that activities too.

Three year to four year old, at this age you should start to teach your child how to target something like throwing a ball into small bucket, discuss something with your child, and say some good stories, ask them to identify name and color of the objects around your home. From four to five, teach your child about family names, calendars, date and time, special events, and ask them to identify words having similar sounds.

After school starts, this games and activities can continue at schools. There are different methods to teach your child, but you should practice your child based on one method, if not your child may get confused. The perfect time for teaching your child is after an hour your child reaches your home from school, because this is the time where they are in school mode. Utilize this time to play some fun and learning games, take your child to explore the real world, and practice your child with educational videos for kids. Nowadays, the stores have educational videos for kids, so purchase one of the educational video for kids to improve your child knowledge by sitting in one place. It is good to know that what they are practicing at school. To know that you should be in touch with your child’s teacher and try to turn your child homework as games. It makes your child easy to do their homework.

Here’s a thought I have on the matter. I’d encourage everyone, no matter how much you trust your dog food company, to question your company. Write e-mails and ask for written guarantees about how their food, in detail, has been altered to guarantee food quality as safe. Ask if they still get product from 3rd world countries. Don’t settle for generalized answers.
ONE BIGGIE: ASK YOUR FOOD CO. WHERE THEIR FOOD IS PROCESSED AND IF THE GENERAL PUBLIC CAN TOUR THE PLANT. If they won’t say where, that to me is a big red flag. If they don’t allow public to tour, that is another one. In my city there are companies like Nabisco, Frito-Lay, Borden’s Ice-Cream and Mrs. Bairds bread and they allow tours of their factories where you can see how the food is processed!

Only way to put pressure on the big companies who import tainted ingredients from third world countries to save a buck is to NOT BUY from them – simple.
Try to buy from smaller companies who make all their dog and cat food onsite, using only U.S. ingredients.
Check the ingredients carefully too, no fillers like corn meal – meat should be the first ingredient, not meat meal, and no artificial additives to give the food the shelf life of a rubber mallet.

i got called on for a job interview for a kennal tech , what questions do they usually ask at a aniamal hospital , i have been in retail for 7 years and really want to make working at a animal hospital a career . i am really nervous about this interview because i dont know what to expect can anyone help please.

If you can handle cleaning up urine, stools, and vomit then you can probably do the job.

They are going to ask you what experience you have with animals, what pets you have, if you’ve ever worked with or trained animals before. Are you afraid of larger aggressive dogs… stuff like that.

Some questions you need to ask them: Is it possible to move up from kennel tech into vet tech later or do they only use certified techs in the clinic. What exactly are the responsibility’s of the kennel tech at their clinic (could be just cleaning cages, or could be doing medication and reading medical records and instructions from the vet) What hours do they expect you to keep, and will it include some weekends. If you will be doing vet tech work also will you be on call some nights or weekends. I’d ask for a tour of the clinic if it was me to get an idea of how clean and organized they were. Ask roughly how long they will be doing interviews so you will know about how long you’ll be waiting to hear back from them.

The best way to get hired for any job is to tell them at the end you are very interested in this kind of work and you are willing to learn as much as they can teach you.

Question by Kittymommy: HELP! My Kitty is walking funny!!?
Before I start, I have to say i already took my cat to the vet, AND to a vet Neurologist. He is getting some lab work done and possible further testing. I just wanted to ask to see if anyone has heard of this or experienced it.

I have a 6 mo Tabby Male who about a month ago started walking like he was squating on his hind legs. He takes a few steps and then plops down on his side. Sometimes he trips over his hind legs, and he is VERY cautious when climbing up or down furniture. He hardly plays, and loses interest rather quickly. I used to think he was just clumsy and lazy, but the vets and I now think it must be something neurological. I feel so bad for my baby! =(

Have you ever seen this in a cat!??! What could it be?!!
